Hello Share Holders!

Spring is here! ...days in the uppers 50s to mid 60s, nights in the low to mid 40s, and the occasional sweltering day- the weather trends are steering towards warmth and heat!

I am writing to let share holders know that we have seedling starts available! We have timed our seedling availablility with the planting season. For the next two on-farm pick-ups: May 18th (monday group) and May 28th (thursday group) we have early garden greens: lettuce, kale, and swiss chard; and herbs: dill, cilantro, basil; flat leaf parsley, oregano, and thyme. If the evening temperatures warm up by May 28th we may offer tomato seedlings for pick up. Greens and herbs are $1.50/each; 6-packs of greens are $5.00.

Many of you received a pre-order form at your first share pick-up; those of you who have filled a form out, or have been in touch with me, we will have your orders prepped for pick-up. There is still time to fill out a form - we will fill them first come, first serve and do our best to fill an order with the varieties that you desire; it being our first season offering seedlings, we planted what we conceived to be desired within the CSA, so seedlings may be limited.

The seedlings that are not pre-sold we will have available for sale on pick-up days!

We will have seedlings available on Tuesday afternoons at the Mill Park Farmer's Market in Augusta every week from May 19th through the third week of June. These seedlings are available at a slightly different cost, due to transport and labor.

Soooooo..... MARK YOUR CALENDARS!! for the flow of seedling availability at Willow Pond Farm Share Pick-up days:

  • Week of May 18th and 28th: Greens and Herbs
  • Week of June 8th: Tomatoes ($2.00 each); Cucumbers, Summer Squash, and Zucchini ($1.50 each)
  • Week of June 15th: Peppers: Green Bell, Sweet Red, and Hot! ... Jalepeno, Ancho Pablano, and Hungarian Hot Wax ($2.00 each)

We look forward to helping you fill your gardens at a cooperative rate. Thank you for being a CSA member and allowing for the opportunity for us to try a seedling share at Willow Pond.

Should you have any questions or an order to make before the next pick-up, please e-mail me at dalziel@digdeepfarm.com or call at 207-215-3732.

Many Many Thanks, Happy Growing, and dig deep (but please don't bury your plants!)!

Dalziel (pronounced dee-el) Lewis
