Notes from the Field

Hello Everyone-

Happy New Year! Let's give it up for 2015!

I hope this note finds everyone well, content, and a little warmer for a bit....

On these winter days, as farmers, we are dreaming of summer:  the seed catalogs bring a colorful vibrancy; the selection of varieties offer nostalgia for tomatoes; the calculation of row footage and coordination of crop planning 'look good on paper,' knowing spring will bring change!

As for now - we still savor the fruits of last season's labors: carrots, potatoes, onions, celeriac, storage radishes...  and the freshness on now : pea shoots and radish shoots!

Please join us on the third Tuesday of every month: January 20th, February 17th, March 17th, and April 21rst from 4pm to 7pm at the Kennebec Pizza Company in Hallowell, ME for an opportunity to find local winter produce!  Dig Deep will be offering a 'farmer's market' alongside the winter CSA pick-up.  Kennebec Pizza Company will have a  'pizza-by-the slice' that evening that includes local veggies; the Pizza Company now offers a gluten free crust.

If there are folks who are unable to make it to the 'market' tomorrow and desire carrots or pea shoots, please be in touch- we may be able to coordinate an exchange another evening during the week.

I hope to see you all soon, hear how you are, and share the evolving news of our collaboration and integration with WIllow Pond Farm in Sabattus, ME for 2015..... and years to come.....
We  (Jill Agnew, Zoe, Rocky, and myself) will have a publication with our share information come the end of January/beginning of February.

Many thanks, please be in touch with questions of good news!

best,
dalziel
