Notes from the Field

Prologue:

The West wind blows...

I feel a stir, it is 7:44 pm, a crescent moon is up, a romantic song comes onto my truck radio, the sky is a true dusk and I unload tomato trellis reinforcements; I then continue and snag some recently harvested yellow onions for drying.

On my journey home I reflect on the rearing of the onions: a Fedco trip in January, seeded in February, transplanted in May with Zoe and David J.; seaweed gathered with oe, Brandon & Wyatt, at Betty's house in Phippsburg - seaweed applied in June with Erin H. and myself; our alliums were needed three times by most names above, including Jessy B and Juliette G!  Sounds like a party!

What's in the Bag

  • Salad mix
  • Celery
  • 2 Red Bells & 1 Red Italian pepper
  • 1 green or 3 purple peppers
  • Oregano
  • 4 red tomatoes
  • 3 paste tomatoes
  • 2 large & 1 medium yellow onion
